The invitation.
This invitation only, year-long leadership development cadre, led by Merle Weaver is a participatory cadre of burgeoning leaders, coming from various segments of church, business, and the non-profit (NGO) world. It is designed to develop, sharpen, and challenge the leadership equipping and abilities of the participants.
We will study, process & learn from history, leadership material, and each other. We will problem-solve individual life and leadership challenges together as we learn.
This cadre is for those committed to invest the time and energy to attend the monthly cadre as well as to study, read, and complete the home-work assignments until the next meeting. In both the monthly “in-person” sessions, as well as the in-between assignments we will successively explore the enclosed subjects together in our personal and collective quest to become good serving leaders.
Who.
What.
We will examine our individual identity and position, starting with our spiritual identity and position in Christ, then working outward through every area of our person and lives including culture, gifting, calling, environment etc. Additionally we will work on developing a life-long plan and process of personal development respective to the above, focusing especially on character and value development. This segment of the cadre will primarily be focused on you and will develop a pace and framework that will enable you to continue your personal development journey for the years and decades ahead of you on your quest to become a proficient serving leader.
Discovering your calling and your Great Purpose. We will work together to discover, articulate, and document your “Great Purpose”. This segment will have the effect of focusing your life and activity, producing a disciplined, long-term focus.
Why.
Combining your “Who”, and “What”. Your “Why” is what gets you out of bed every morning and motivates you. Additionally, discovering the “Why” behind your “Why” (“What makes you cry.”) will help you to understand “what makes you tick”.
Where.
We will explore and develop an understanding of location and presence. As you define and walk the “Where”, it gives focus and framework to the “Who”, “What”, and “Why”.
When.
Even when some, or all, of your “Who”, “What”, “Why” and “Where” are discovered and articulated, understanding and walking in God’s timing is key and imperative. Processing through this as a group will help produce resilience and patient endurance, which in turn produces character and strength in leadership. During this session we will study the “timing component” of the public ministry of Men of God and great leaders of the past.
How.
With.
We were not designed primarily to live and work alone but rather in community. Who you associate with and who your team is, is very important. Learning good follower-ship and how to function well on a team is an integral component of any good serving leader. We will learn how to intentionally surround yourself with good people, how to build a team, and how to relate to seemingly sub-par team and/or community members. We will explore how the world’s “divorce, fire, and discard” mentality is often opposite of God’s plan and purpose of redemption and community.
